How to Connect an Instagram Business Account to Gargle Social Media

Quick Start Checklist

Complete these before connecting to Instagram

☐ Your Instagram account is set up as a Business Profile
☐ Your Instagram Business account is connected to a Facebook Page
☐ You have the username and password for:

  • Your personal Facebook profile
  • Your Instagram Business account
    ☐ You are an admin on the Facebook Business Page
    ☐ You are logged into Facebook and Instagram in your browser
    ☐ You are using a desktop computer (recommended)

Once everything above is ready, you can connect your Instagram account.

Before You Start (Important)

Make sure you have:

✔ Your Facebook personal login (email + password)

✔ Your Instagram Business account login

✔ Admin access to the Facebook Page connected to Instagram

Why Facebook?
Facebook owns Instagram, so Facebook login is required to connect your Instagram Business account.

We recommend logging into both Facebook and Instagram before starting.


Step-by-Step: First-Time Instagram Connection

1. Go to the Social Media Connector

  • Visit mygargletools.gargle.com
  • Open the Social Media Connector
  • Click the Instagram button

2. Log in with Facebook (This Is Normal!)

A pop-up window will appear asking you to log in to Facebook.

  • Log in using your personal Facebook profile
  • If you’re already logged in, click Continue as [Your Name]

Don’t worry — this does not connect your personal information.
You’ll choose your business account in the next steps.


3. Connect Your Instagram Business Profile

You’ll now be prompted to connect your Instagram Business account.

  • Enter the email address used for your Instagram Business profile
  • Add a description (usually your practice name)
  • Select your Instagram Business profile from the dropdown
  • Click Save Settings

A loading wheel will appear…

That’s it! Your Instagram account is now connected.


Reconnecting an Instagram Business Account

(Only if you’ve connected before)

Sometimes, Instagram requires accounts to be reconnected. If this happens, follow these steps:

1. Start the Connection Again

  • Go to the Social Media Connector
  • Click the Instagram button
  • Click Continue when prompted

2. Select Your Instagram Business Profile

  • Choose your Instagram Business profile from the list
  • Click Next

3. Confirm the Connected Facebook Page

  • Make sure the correct Facebook Business Page is selected
  • Click Next

4. Approve Permissions

  • Toggle on the requested permissions
    (Note: Gargle does not moderate comments on your behalf)
  • Click Done

5. Finish Setup

  • Click OK on the confirmation message
  • Wait for the page to finish loading

Common Questions

Why do I have to use my personal Facebook login?
Facebook requires a personal login to grant access to business accounts. Your personal data is not shared.

What if I don’t see my Instagram account?
Make sure your Instagram profile is:

  • Set as a Business account
  • Connected to the correct Facebook Page

What if something doesn’t look like these steps?
Facebook and Instagram update their screens often. If you’re unsure, stop and contact your Gargle team for help.

How to Convert Your Instagram Account to a Business Profile

(Required to connect with Gargle)

If your Instagram account is not already a business profile, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Instagram app on your phone
  2. Go to your profile and tap the menu (☰) in the top-right corner
  3. Tap Settings and privacy
  4. Select Account type and tools
  5. Tap Switch to professional account
  6. Choose Business
  7. Select a category (any relevant category is fine)
  8. Follow the prompts to finish setup

Once complete, return to this page and continue connecting your account.

Common Instagram Issues & How to Fix Them

I don’t see my Instagram account when connecting

  • Confirm the account is a Business profile
  • Make sure it’s connected to the correct Facebook Page
  • Log out and back into Facebook, then try again

Instagram is asking for permissions again

This happens occasionally due to security updates.
Simply follow the reconnect steps on this page.

I accidentally connected the wrong Instagram account

  • Disconnect the account in the Social Media Connector
  • Reconnect using the correct Facebook profile and Instagram Business account

I don’t know which Facebook profile to use

Use the personal Facebook profile that manages your business page.

The screen looks different than the instructions

Instagram and Facebook update their layouts often.
If you’re unsure, stop and contact your Gargle support team.

It keeps loading or won’t finish connecting

  • Refresh the page
  • Try a different browser (Chrome recommended)
  • Make sure pop-ups are enabled
  • Try again in a few minutes
